DIY acid wash denim jacket

another one of my bleaching projects: acid washing a denim jacket. all you need is obviously a denim jacket or any other denim stuff, bleach and a spray bottle -such as empty bottles of beauty or hair products.
the acid washing itself is very easy: fill the bleach into the spray bottle and spray it onto the denim jacket. a very good tutorial you can find here. some tips:
1) try to spread the bleach very evenly if you want to avoid blotches
2) don't spray too much bleach at once, first let it sit, then decide if you want your denim to be lighter or if it's okay
3) for a very smooth acid wash pattern you should also avoid that your bottle drops, there would be some smaller white blotches on the fabric, just take some toilet paper and put it around the bottle, it will suck up the excess bleach
as with every bleached clothing item, rinse it carefully with clear water after your done to get the excess bleach out and put it into the washing machine, but only with other belached stuff or white clothes, unless you want the other clothes to change their colour!
on the second picture you can see how the denim looked before and after, i also made some small cuts into the denim to get a more destroyed look before i put it into the washing machine!
and this is the result:
i'm going to customize it a little bit more, with some spikes on the shoulders and a UK-flag on the back! i just need to get those spikes to finish it, then i'll definitely show the finished jacket to you, maybe including some small outfit suggestions!

pinhole

today i finally picked up the developed photos of my DIY pinhole experiment and i was really surprised that so many of them actually got quite good! i experimented a little bit with exposure time and found out that 2sec (1)  or 3sec (2-4) are best on cloudy days, on sunny days i would go for 2-1sec or even less than 1sec if it's really bright -beach or sth- on really dark and rainy days i would go for 3-5sec. the last photo is -incidentally- a double exposure but i'm really surprised that this works with pinhole cameras, too! i think this super simple pinhole camera is just amazing, the quality of the pictures isn't bad at all if you remeber that this thing is just a cardboard-box with a tiny hole in it! try it out, it's so much fun and a completely new expirience in photography!

some more DIY skull jewellery

as i told you in my DIY skull feather earrings-post, i ordered some of those cute skull beads on ebay and ever sice then i try to make some jewellery out of them, whenever i find time.. i also ordered a spike necklace on ebay where i just took some of those spikes off to use them for my skull jewellery - and i can still wear the necklace, there had been a lot of spikes on it! so now i've made another two earrings and a necklace and i'm also planning to do some leather wrap bracelets, after that i'll still have some of the beads left -the awful yellow and red ones actually..- so i need to think about what to do with them! i'm in kind of a bracelet-fever anyway, i spent 2h today, collecting DIY tutorials all over the web and i'm pretty sure i'll try some of them soon and of course i'm gonna share them with you!

dropdead summer 2012

dropdead launched its summer 2012 collection a few days ago, not without having a huge 'summer meltdown sale' before, where i finally purchased the most awesome sweater - space donuts - ever, that i had wanted for months! -i just didn't buy it because it was too expensive; i love sales! :D i also love dropdead, so i picked my favourite items from the summer collection here, i love that stuff and i can't wait for it to be on sale! dropdead's awesome, but sadly too expensive for a small students wallet..

wolkenleserin

today i shortly want to introduce a wonderful german blog to you: wolkenleserin. i love her inspiring photography and her outfits, so you should really check it out!

DIY ripped bleached ombre shorts

as i'm in a kind of DIY-fever at the moment, here is another one of my current projects: bleaching. the first tutorial is about how to do some awesome ripped bleached ombre high waisted shorts!
what you need: some shorts, some bleach, an old bucket and some gloves
important information about bleaching you can find in my DIY bleached denim vest-post, and here's how to achieve the ombre effect:
1. fill the bleach into your bucket. if you want the denim part of your shorts to become a lighter colour, you should completely dip it into the bleach
2. dip your shorts into the bleach, just as much as you want the lighter part to be, let it sit in the bleach a while, then take a bit more of the shorts out of the bleach. repeat that in smaller steps for a very smooth transition, or in larger steps for a more random effect. don't forget that bleach can be very agressive, depending on wich one you use, so don't go away from your bucket for too long, if  you don't want to get completely white shorts!
3. after bleaching rinse the shorts with some water to get the excess bleach out and stop the bleaching process
i underestimated my bleach, since i used it with water last time and it didn't work so fast, so my shorts became pretty light.. actually i like that fact, they're just perfect for summer now!
to get your shorts the destroyed and ripped look just make some cuts into the fabric of the shorts before you wash them in the washing machine. make sure to wash them only with white or other bleached clothes, since the excess bleach in the fabric might change the colour of the other clothes!
and finally after drying my shorts looked like this; -i love them!

DIY ying-yang shorts

since i have seen a lot of ying-yang-prints around tumblr and lookbook lately and since i really like the print i decided to turn one of my levi's high waisted cut off shorts into a pretty ying-yang-shorts. the tutorial for how to sew a piece of cloth onto denim shorts you can find in my DIY american flag shorts-post, this works just for any kind of cloth you have! so here's the result:
so i hope i can post an outfit-post with this one soon, but by now i'm just mostly wearing bikinis, swimsuits and swimshorts all the time, it's finally hot and sunny here and i spend most of my time at the lake -wonderful. and another wonderful thing: one of the universities i sent a portfolio to invited me to a qualifying examination! if i pass, i'll be studying interior design there in october! :D

how to strech your ears

finally here's my post about streching your ears, what you need, how to do it and how to care for your ears afterwards. so first of all, here's what you need:
TAPERS: these are used to widen the hole in your ear. the one's on the picture are cone-shaped acrylic tapers, but you can also use spirals. tapers come in different materials, acrylic, steal, organic.. - i would recommend using acrylic ones, they're cheapest and since you wouldn't wear them anymore anyway you shouldn't waste your money on that. IMPORTANT: don't skip sizes with the tapers! you should go in tiny steps like 2,3,4,5,6mm, then you can go on in bigger steps like 8,10mm.. if you skip sizes it first of all will hurt, your ears are going to bleed and you can even risk a blow out, wich doesn't look nice at all, so be patient for the health of your ear!
PLUGS/TUNNELS: after you've streched your ear with the taper you should (after several hours) put a plug or tunnel into your ear. if you keep the taper in over night or for a long time it's weight and size won't leat your ear heal properly because it'll always be in a move. for the small size of 2mm you can use a normal piercing ring, but be careful to buy one with a big diameter, you ear's goingt to be a little bit thicker in the first days. for all the bigger sizes i recommend simple acrylic plugs with o-rings or unscrewable plugs or tunnels. don't try to put in double-flared ones, they won't fit into your ear until 3-4 weeks after streching! i also wouldn't reccomend to change the plug you put in after streching in the first two days so your ear can heal better, after that you should take it out at least every day to clean it, after your ear is fully healed you can leave the plug in there for a longer time.
DESINFECTANT: before you strech you should fist desinfect your hands, then the taper. the hand-desinfectant you can find in every drugstore, for your ears i would recommend 'octisept' (that's at least what it is called here in germany), you can find it in your pharmacy.
CREAM: to make the taper go into your ear you should use some simple body milk or vanishing cream
now here's the step by step instructions how to strech your ear:
1. desinfect your hands
2. desinfect the taper
3. put some cream onto the taper
4. put some cream on your ear (this is also good to speed up the blood circulation and the healing process, like a massage)
5. slowly put the taper into your ear. don't force anything, just put it in as far as it goes, if it hurts too much, stop. leave it in for several minutes, then go on. if you feel you won't get it through just put it back out and wait another week. between the single steps i recommend to wait about 4 weeks, depending on how fast you're ear heals you can also try to strech after maybe 3 weeks, but never earlier! i expirienced that the taper goes in a lot easier and not as painful if you wait for a longer time! so be patient, i know it's hard.
6. put the o-rings onto the taper to avoid losing it. leave a little space between the o-ring and your ear to let it breathe.
7. after several hours your ear should be a little bit calmed and you can put it a plug or tunnel. first desinfect (this is very important to prevent your ear from getting infected!)
8. take the o-rings off your taper and fit the plug exactly onto the top of the taper. push it through your ear slowly, pushing the taper out at the same time. if you fail, just put the taper back in and try again, or try to put the plug into your ear without the taper, although the fist way might be easier!
9. screw your tunnel or put the o-rings on your alcrylic plugs and let them in for about two or three days, until your ear isn't as thick anymore. then put it out, clean it, desinfect it and put it back in. wait four weeks and then go on with the next step!
here you can see how i storage my plugs, tunnels and tapers. those transparent boxes you can get in local craft stores or DIY-stores.
how to put in double-flared silikone tunnels: take the tunnel and fold it in your hand, put it into your ear like that, if you let lose it will turn back into it's previous shape!
GENERAL ADVISES:
1. BE PATIENT! don't go on with streching too fast!
2. desinfect every tunnel or plug you buy very carefully, especially if you buy them from a street market or things like that!
3. i take my tunnels out everytime i take a shower. in the shower i also clean my hole and before i put the tunnel back in i desinfect it every single time. (i just don't use the hand-desinfectant that often anymore..)
4. for a very healthy ear you should wear organic plugs or tunnels (right picture), like wooden ones, your ear will be able to breathe a lot better than with the steal, silicone or acrylic plugs! you will even recognize it because the skin colour inside your hole will be the same as the one outside, with non-organic ones it will be a light pink.
5. if you want to strech both of your ears you don't need to buy two of every taper, just strech the one ear first to 2, after it healed strech this ear to 3, the other one to 2... because you wouldn't be able to wear the tapers, as well as the small plugs and tunnels anything else would just be a waste of money!
6. here, here and here are some nice videos about streching on youtube!
7. here you can find awesome, awesome and very cheap plugs and tunnels!

if you have any questions about streching, just ask me in the comment-box, i'll answer everything! i hope i could help you a little bit and now have fun with streching, but always be patient! (your skin is not like rubber band at all!)

DIY pinhole camera

first of all:  i'm really sorry for not posting that much recently, i've been very busy finishing school, therefore a lot of imporant exams and next to that i had to draw a lot for a second portfolio for another university i want to apply for, to study industrial design.
for that portfolio i had a special little DIY-project, i built myself a small pinhole camera, there are a lot of tutorials on the internet - here, a very good one here - and actually it's very easy to make that little thing just out of some leftover cardboard from your empty drawing or note pads.. so i'm pretty excited about the photos, since i don't know if there aren't any light leaks, or if i did open the shutter long enough or too long.. well i took 19 shots on the regular 35mm film, i hope there's at least one picture that i can show to you!
PS: be excited for a lot of DIY stuff soon! i just finished my exams and the portfolio, now i've got 2 weeks free, with a lot of time to work on that huuuge list of DIY-projects i collected during the last months! and of course the 'how-to-strech-your-ears-post will be up very soon!

coincidence does strange things

i can't believe it, how lucky could just one human being be? i really just won another awesome canvas tote from PARADISE - the blog of MELLY, the girl who won the shorts in my giveaway -that's insane. but i love that bag and can't wait to recieve it! ♥
PS: i'm back from ROCK IM PARK and it was awesome, we had been very lucky with the weather, it just rained two times and all the bands we watched, especially enter shikari and linkin park had been just fantastic, so this had been one of the best weekends of the year and i can't wait to develop my photos to show them to you! -maybe..
